Information about the project:
Mission Critical HEMP-Shielded Communications Center – Ballistic Missile Defense System
11,200 SF Secure Operations Facility
This 11,200-square-foot communications center was constructed to support mission-critical operations within the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The facility is hardened to meet High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) shielding requirements, ensuring uninterrupted communications and systems integrity during high-impact threat scenarios.
The building structure and all supporting systems were fully modeled using Autodesk Revit to enable comprehensive coordination, clash detection, and pre-construction planning. Mechanical, electrical, and architectural systems were integrated into a detailed Building Information Model (BIM) to streamline construction and reduce field conflicts. All mechanical systems were fully engineered with seismic calculations and are braced to meet stringent resilience requirements for mission-critical infrastructure in seismic zones.
Mechanical systems include complete domestic water and waste infrastructure, hydronic heating provided by the missile field’s centralized district heating system, and chilled water systems for equipment and environmental cooling. Ventilation systems are designed to support both standard operation and emergency conditions, including:
-
Clean Agent Purge Systems to safely exhaust protected areas following system discharge events.
-
CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) Air Filtration Systems to ensure occupant safety and maintain operations during contamination events.
These specialized air-handling systems are configured with multi-stage filtration, over-pressurization capabilities, and isolation controls, providing a controlled, secure environment for both personnel and sensitive equipment.
This project demonstrates advanced coordination, technical precision, and the capacity to deliver high-security, high-reliability infrastructure in support of national defense objectives.
