Eielson Airforce Base

436 F-35A AME Storage Facility

ROLE: Subcontractor
CLIENT: US Army Corps of Engineers Alaska District
PRIME CONTRACTOR: Bristol
LOCATION: Eielson Airforce Base Alaska

Information about the project:

This 12,000-square-foot warehouse was delivered as a design-build project to support the storage of Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) for the F-35A fighter wing stationed at Eielson Air Force Base in Interior Alaska. The facility is strategically integrated into the base’s utilidor utility tunnel system, enabling connection to centralized steam, condensate return, domestic water, fire protection, and pumped sewer systems.

Mechanical systems included domestic water and sewer service, as well as a steam-to-glycol heat exchange system. Glycol circulation pumps distribute heating to unit heaters and heating coils throughout the facility, providing reliable temperature control in arctic conditions. General ventilation systems were installed to maintain safe and functional working conditions year-round.

The system design underwent contractor-led constructability reviews to optimize efficiency, reduce cost, and ensure ease of maintenance. Additionally, the contractor performed full design and installation of seismic bracing for all mechanical systems and equipment to meet mission-critical resiliency standards.
